Genomic Health Database Migration - SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005
Genomic Health develops genetic tests that help oncologists determine the best treatment options for certain types of cancer. They utilize Microsoft SQL Server for business and scientific purposes.
Project: Database Migration - SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005
Goal: Work with a team of technical experts within Genomic Health to plan and execute a migration to SQL Server 2005 without impacting day to day operations.
Technical Requirement: Migrate 2 clustered 32-bit SQL Server 200 Servers to clustered 64-bit SQL Server 2005 on new hardware, with 26 user databases.
What we did, alongside the Genomic Health Engineering Team:
- Identified all native SQL objects where deprecated terms and syntax occur, and provide code changes as both concepts and actual recoding.
- Leveraged available technical resources
- Developed and implemented a test plan
- Helped during the actual migration
Result: A flawless migration, with no business disruption.
